Mission Accomplished!
After a few months of planning, organising, strategising and implementing, it all came down to the final two days of our "SHOW YOUR CARE, TREAT ANIMALS FAIR" campaign held last Sunday (4th) and Monday (5th).
Even though this was not the first campaign we've ever held, we still had the same jitters and nerves counting down to the days of the event. The usual worry for the unpredictable weather, lack of crowd and everything in between was apparent in all of us.
Everyone was pumped up about this particular campaign as it would be the last that we ever do as a class. As this is our final semester together before we go our separate ways, this campaign held a special place in our hearts and we wanted to make sure that our final campaign together would be a success.
As I've mentioned before, this campaign was a collaboration with SPCA and we wanted to raise funds for them and at the same time raise awareness on the ethical treatment of animals. We had various activities such as Food Fair, Jumble Sale, Exhibition and Body Art and all the proceeds gained were channelled to SPCA.
The first day of the campaign started off rather slowly and everyone was panicking as we were worried that the stall vendors would be upset because of the lack of crowd flow. Despite doing publicity outside of college, we learned that it was probably not enough. Kiran and her mom also came to support my event on Sunday. =)
Surprisingly, despite us worrying that the stall vendors would be angry or upset with us because of the lack of people, at the end of the day, they were all still in a relatively good mood. =) The second day which was more for the college students was much better. There were more students and the stall vendors had a steady flow of business. =) Mom and Trish also kept to their word and came all the way to give me support! =) We also had a catwalk featuring TARC students with their animal painted faces sponsored by StyleFlash.
At the end of the two day campaign , we successfully collected RM4000 for SPCA. Though it may not be much but to us it was a great achievement and we are proud to have done something worthy and charitable. The SPCA representatives were very happy and grateful and at the end of the day, that is all that matters. =)
We may have had a few disagreements and dissatisfaction along the way but that is the part and parcel of working together. At the end of it all, we're all still friends and it has been a great journey together. Strangely, despite feeling happy and relax now that the event is over, I kinda miss it a bit. It feels like there is an empty part in my life now and with the end of this campiagn , I've realised that in just a few more weeks, we will all be leaving college and who knows when we will meet again?
It's been an enjoyable ride and journey together and I'm sure that this campaign will stay with us for a long time to come. It has been etched in our memory forever. The fun, joy, sadness, anger and all the other emotions felt throughout this campaign and the memories formed will never be forgotten. =)
