Over the weekend, I have been spending my time watching lots of TV and since it was Raya, they were showing a lot of Hindi movies. So, most of the movies I watched were of course, Hindi movies but I have to say that the storylines of all these movies were quite interesting and eye opening even though one of the movie was probably based on an English movie (they denied it of course..haha...). So, here are of my reviews of the movies I watched over the weekend! =)1) U, Me Aur Hum So, as I was saying, THIS is the movie that I said was probably based on an English storybook/movie, The Notebook. The story starts with an elderly man approaching an elderly lady on a cruise ship and is trying to woo her. She tries to ignore him so he decides to tell her about a true love story in the hopes of her agreeing to have a cup of tea with him. The story from there on is about how a young couple i.e the older couple 25 years ago, falls in love on a cruise ship and how the girl develops Alzheimer's disease at the age of 28, just when the couple finally gets married.
Ultimately, the movie is of course a love story but how the couple struggles particularly the husband, to maintain the relationship is the main point of the whole story. There is even a part where she nearly drowns her baby because she forgot about leaving him in the bathtub! Overall, a sweet movie and it definitely makes you wonder what would you do if your parents, husband, wife, gf/bf or any loved one were to forget EVERYTHING that ever happened in your entire life. It would really be devastating if that ever happened to anybody but it does happen to some people and that's the saddest part...
2) Fashion
Now, this movie was interesting because it took you behind the scenes of a supermodel's life. I don't know how much of it is true, but when you hear of some the cases involving the models these days, you can't help but believe that it is true. This movie tells the story of a small town girl trying to make it big as model in the big city. It shows how people get involved in drugs, extramarital affairs and backstabbing. The actresses in the movie was also an added advantage in engaging more viewers. Priyanka Chopra, the former Miss Wolrd looked really hot in the movie and I love how her hair looked!! haha... If only I looked like her... hahaha...
3) Final Destination
I watched the 3D version of this movie and as I said before in my previous post, it was really gory but also sort of unrealistic. Basically the whole movie or rather the franchise is about how a person gets premonitions on how a whole group of people would die including himself and they have to find a way to break the chain. So, the whole movie is just one gruesome death after another. It is sort of unrealistic because there is one part on the movie where the girl dies as she is slowly flattened by the escalator... I mean, how is that possible?? Of course, it makes for good movie but logically, is it even possible?? Well, like what my mum and sis always says, "It's just a movie...". hahaha... My suggestion, if you have nothing better to do and are fans of gory movies, then go ahead and watch it! =)
4) Jodhaa Akbar
This movie is set during the era where there were still wars between regions on who could be the leader of India. But like all hindi movies, this is also basically a love story between a Mughal Muslim emperor and a Hindu princess (Aishwarya Rai). She is a feisty princess who doesn't want to give in to the Muslim way and he is a very tolerant emperor who lets her do her way but at the same time, tires his very best to win over her heart. The nicest part of the story is of course the "wooing" process and to me, they both suited the part very well. My mom was saying it's interesting that they decided to show this movie during Raya at a time where there is a dispute about the hindu temple relocation. Maybe the media wants to show to the people that Muslims and Hindus can live in peace if everyone practiced a bit of tolerance! =)
So, if you're interested, go and catch all these movies! =) Till the next time! Pa-alam! =)
